This is funny

The funny test among guys.

Obj and power sector

A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,
has attributed the rot in the power sector to the
administrations that came to office after his
tenure.
Obasanjo believed that if Nigeria must surmount
the power challenge, it must start generating
additional 2,000 megawatts every year.
He said apart from his efforts to ensure stable
power while he was the military Head of State in
1979, subsequent administrations did nothing on
power generation, up to the time he returned as
a civilian president in 1999.
The former President said this on Monday at a
programme tagged First Green Legacy Moment
with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Leadership and
Human Security in Africa, held in Abeokuta.
While he noted that part of the challenges
confronting the nation was lack of political will
by Nigerian leaders, he, however, warned that
power should not be “privatised to friends.”
He said, “Part of our problems is lack of political
will on the part of the leaders. What does a
leader understands about development? Any
leader worth his salt should know that power is
very important. It is the driver of all
development, be it social, economic, and even
political.
“When I was military head of state, I developed
the Jebba dam, I developed Shiroro, I started
Egbin. Shagari came and completed Egbin and
inaugurated Jebba and Shiroro.
“Between Shagari in 1983, until I came back in
1999, there was no single dime invested in
power generation. If anything, the ones that were
there were allowed to go down.
“A country like Nigeria must be adding not less
than 2,000 megawatts every year if we are to be
moving on the part of development.
“If you will remember, when I came back in
1999, my first Minister of Power was late Bola
Ige. I won’t say Bola didn’t know what he was
doing and he said publicly that he would fix the
power problems in six months.
“After one year, Bola, with his capacity, couldn’t
fathom what was wrong with power; it was
riddled with corruption. Then, we had no money.
People have forgotten that in 1999/2,000, the
price of crude oil was US $9 per barrel.
“When we started having money, we started the
National Integrated Power Plant. When we said
the money we had should be invested in power,
my successor (Umar Yar’Adua) didn’t
understand; he stopped it.
“If for almost 20 years, we did not achieve
anything in power generation, then we may not
be able to get it again.”

Dangote slashes cement down to #1000.

LAGOS—LEADING cement manufacturer, Dangote
Cement Plc, weekend, announced drastic
reduction of the prices of its cement.
The new price regime announced by the Group
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, GMD/
CEO, of Dangote Cement, Mr. Devakumar Edwin,
pegged the Dangote 32.5 cement grade at N1,000
per 50 kg bag, while the higher 42.5 grade would
sell for N1,150 per bag.
A statement by the company at the end of a
management meeting said, however, that the new
prices were exclusive of the Value Added Tax,
VAT, representing about 40 per cent discount on
the prevailing market price of the product
currently sold for N1,700 irrespective of the
grade, across the country.
Edwin said the move was in line with the
company’s commitment to the nation’s dire need
for the development of infrastructure and to boost
the federal and state government’s ongoing effort
to reduce the near 20 million housing deficit in
Africa’s largest economy.
He said, “we recognize the need for an increased
rapid response to the huge infrastructure and
housing deficit in the country, and one of the
ways of addressing the issue is bringing the price
of building materials down to much more
affordable levels especially cement which is
within our control as part of our contribution to
the transformation agenda of the Goodluck
Jonathan administration and the attainment of
key milestones in the Millennium Development
Goals, MDGs.
“Since the commencement of the implementation
of the backward integration policy for cement in
the country over 12 years ago, the local
production capacity of the product rose from less
than three million metric tonnes per annum to
about 38 million metric tonnes per annum.
During the more than 12-year period of the
backward integration policy, nearly $20 billion
has been directly and indirectly injected into the
Nigerian cement industry with Dangote Cement
Plc accounting for 60 per cent of that spend.”
The GMD/CEO added that Dangote Cement Plc
would continue to ensure alignment of its
corporate social responsibility with its strategic
business initiatives and will continue to evaluate
its pricing regime in Nigeria’s best interest.
Meanwhile, the timing of the initiative has
confounded industry watchers, who say that from
experience, the cement market is on the verge of
entering the accelerated demand phase as the
raining season is tapering and the dry season
which provides the opportunity for increased
construction and building activities is setting in.

KENNY SAINT BEST KSB: ENTERTAINMENT AND NIGERIA POLITICS

Unconventional gospel musician and aspiring
politician, Kenny Saint Best, is one of the
entertainers who are delving into politics.
KSB is a card-
carrying member
of the All
Progressives
Congress who is
vying for the
Ikeja
Constituency 1
legislative seat
in the Lagos
House of
Assembly.In a
recent interview
on TV, KSB
explained why
she is contesting on the APC platform.
“Good luck to my family members, because right
now we all bear our names. If I had wanted to be
a member of the party that my family belongs to, I
would have done that.
In the past 10 years, APC has been very
supportive towards my development financially,
and also, to my children’s development. Senator
Remi Tinubu stood by me and she didn’t even
stop helping me.
During my album launch, she sent First Lady of
Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola to represent
her,” she stated.

Why i collabo with Olamide.

Popular Fuji musician, Sulaiman Adekunle Alao
Malaika, recently opened up in an interview on
the rationale behind the song he did with Olamide
titled Bosenjo.
According to him,
“I never thought
about doing a song
like that because I
have done songs
with hip hop acts
long before now.
However, I met
Olamide in one of
my brothers’
houses and I was
told he was eager
to meet with me. I
drove down there
to meet with him.
On getting there, we exchanged pleasantries and
we got talking so he requested working with me
saying we haven’t done anything together before
because he has been following my success since
his younger days and that he likes the way I sing.
I reciprocated by telling him how I love his
approach to his music and he asked if we could
do something together and I told him that is no
problem and that I would even fund the recording
and all other things.
When all these happened, I haven’t even began
recording for my album and he also said he
wasn’t recording for his album and we promised
to feature on each other’s album whenever we
were ready. Few days later, we met at the studio
he uses for recording and that was it. I never
imagined the acceptability of the song because
we did it for the fun of it.”
It is notable that Sule Malaika has released over
19 studio albums as a Fuji artiste.
